BME assistant professor Dr. Anne-Laure Papa has been awarded a Department of Defense Breast Cancer Research Program grant. This three-year, $775,167 award will allow her research group to pursue a novel approach of using ex-vivo modified platelets to target circulating tumor cells in the bloodstream. These circulating tumor cells represent the “seeds” for future metastatic spread, and targeting them could lead to new therapeutic avenues in delaying metastasis.
